Art Historian Professor Colin T. Eisler

Friedrich Nietzsche famously said, "the surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently." With youth, energy, intellect, and experimental mind, young artists are the hope as the next art leaders. But how do they become the future art leaders in a world where following the next “it” is the norm? Are they forgetting something or are they being pressured? What is the duty of youth today in the art world? Meet Professor Colin Eisler, a distinguished art historian at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts, who has been working with young art historians and artists for the past 58 years. Sometimes it’s hard to get that balance just right – between heart and mind.
