Artist Chen Xi

"I started to think if I should continue painting. There are so many new mediums and materials to use these days. My strong attachment to painting makes me want to give more efforts to create something new with it."

Chen Xi (陈曦) is an artist and professor at the Central Academy of Fine Art (CAFA) in China. In this MiA's Conversation Series, Chen Xi shares her latest work and how she finds it a tough time to be a painter today, continuously striving to make new creations within the same medium. In 2011, she held her solo exhibition "Be Memorized" in National Art Museum of China. Through the depiction of Chinese TV programs, Chen Xi explored the connection between the public and the personal memories and how the television media influenced the people's lives in the past 40 years.
